that is what we, academics in media culture, have become: beached fishes.
geworfen (thrown-open) on the beach, where every grain of sand is another arbitrary letter.
the fish is leaving behind a trace in the sand, which reminds of a face and will be washed away by the next tide. "erased, like a face drawn in sand at the edge of the sea."
not a healthy way of life indeed. but at least this fish really has got a chance to know what this pervasive medium called "media" is ...
